The A.D.D. & Family Support Centre
BRIEF BIOGRAPHICAL BACKGROUND
Ron Weinstein is a unique professional who understands the difficulties encountered by individuals with AD/HD. After having been diagnosed with AD/HD in 1990, his multi and interdisciplinary approach to life began to make sense as did the difficulties he encountered during the way. He has integrated his background in Child & Adolescent Growth and Development, Nutrition, Neurobiology and Biological Anthropology to form the foundation for his specialization in Attention Deficit, Learning and Behavioral Disorders. His academic, clinical and research experience spans over 25 years with a short break in between to produce and market educational films and videos.. This experience, has given him a unique perspective on the etiology, assessment and the needs of individuals whose learning and behavioral styles differ from those considered "the norm" of our culture, and who may suffer from emotional and/or psychological problems resulting from these differences.

Prior to developing The A.D.D Centre, he held full-time faculty positions and had research affiliations in Departments of Family Studies, Human Development, Nutrition and Behavioral Medicine at various universities including The University of Toronto, The University of Guelph (Canada), Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia State University, The University of Connecticut Health Center and the Children's Hospital in Mexico City. He was a research associate in behavioral medicine at the Albert Einstein Hospital and College of Medicine and held a clinical position at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center (NYC). His graduate and post-graduate work was at Cornell University and the University of Massachusetts with additional training in psychiatric and neuro-biological assessments at Cornell Medical Center, Harvard University Medical School (with Dr. T. Berry Brazelton) and The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto). He has kept up-to-date with developments in related fields through continuing education.

He developed and directed numerous research programs investigating learning, behavior and child development, was invited to participate in NATO Advanced Study Institutes on Learning & Behavior and Human Growth and Development. He currently maintains a busy lecture and workshop schedule both nationally and internationally.

He has developed specialized methods, tools and systems for: comprehensively assessing and diagnosing AD/HD through the lifespan; evaluating the efficacy of medication; and improving educational, life, career and communication skills. He has also developed a comprehensive home-school behavioral incentive program (S.I.B.S.) which is successfully utilized by adults, families and within various school systems for children and adolescents who have previously been unresponsive to behavioral modification programs.

He conducts seminars, workshops and in-service training programs for schools, hospitals, camps, corporations and the judicial system. In addition, due to his experience and knowledge of State and Federal discrimination and civil rights laws, he has been instrumental in helping to obtain the rights due to individuals with disabilities in school and in the workplace.
