| Understanding
your (or your child's) AD/HD is the key to successful living. Can
you (your child or your spouse) fit into either of the following categories?
Do you fit into both? Think about it. It will be easier for you to plan
your life and your activities if you better understand who you are!
Remember there is a great deal of variability among individuals with AD/HD since many factors affect how we behave. Check out the chart below. |

| Do you need to be physically active at all times? If you are not physically active are you more impulsive, distracted or sluggish? | Do you have a need for intense mental stimulation? If you're not mentally stimulated are you more inattentive or scattered? |
| Do you need physical activities to help pay attention? | Are you obsessive when you hyper focus and are not physically active? |
| Do you struggle to sustain mental focus? | Do you struggle to stop thinking? |
| The following chart represents 6 children diagnosed with attention deficit disorders by standarized rating scales. We have rated each child child's characteristics - inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity/restlessness - on a scale of 1 to 10. The higher the number the more pronounced the symptom. You can see the great variability among individuals with AD/HD. |
